One of the most annoying shark films I've watched

First of all, let's get this out of the way, this film looks great, the effects are good, the storm and flood sequences are really well done and it has Djimon Hounsou in it (always a plus, the guys a terrific actor) The sharks in this look cool and I could have seen this making a (pun intended) splash at the cinema. The problem with this film is with the writing and the characters. Most of the characters in this are insufferable, they're either extremely detestable just so you can cheer when they're killed off, or they're absolutely stupid to the point that you just wonder how these people ever got to the age that they did.But it's writing that is the movies main villain. Seriously, who wrote this trash? It comes across like something a young teenager would write, there are so many set pieces and scenes that rely so heavily on suspension of disbelief that it starts to grate by the end.Just scenes with the sharks and the main cast that are so utterly ridiculous and unbelievable that even The Asylum would be embarrassed to have them in their dross movies. They're so bad that they make you cringe and wince, and in a film that really takes itself seriously.Add to that, all the usual tropes in these types of films, you know exactly what's going to happen, who will live and who will die so there's no stakes involved. Was it the worst thing I've ever watched? No, not by a mile but what an utter disappointment. A film with obvious production values and decent talent involved and yet somehow, they drop the ball so hard it literally shatters into pieces.By the time it finished, I was left feeling annoyed. Not recommended.

Predictable but fun B movie

As "Trash" (2026 release; 86 min.) opens, we are in Annieville, South Carolina, 2 hrs. Before landfall", as Hurricane Henry is rapidly gaining mass and speed. We are introduced to Dakota, the young black lady grieving her mother's recent death, Lisa, the highly pregnant office worker, and a trio of foster kids under the care of bad foster dad Billy. None seem aware of the pending dangers of what is becoming a Category 6 (if there was such a category) hurricane. At this point we are 10 minutes into the movie.Couple of comments: this is the latest of Finnish writer-producer-director Tommy Wirkola ("Violent Night"). Here he brings a hurricane and bull sharks-infested storm surge survivors B-movie that is as campy as it is fun. No need to worry about anything. It's all very obvious from the get-go. The movie's best sequence comes when the hurricane makes landfall and brings the storm surge. The movie features a no-names cast (for me anyway). Best of them is Whitney Peak as the grieving Dakota. At not even a full hour and a half, the movie clips by in no time. It was mindless fun, just what I wanted on a Friday evening."Trash" started streaming in Netflix just last night. The movie is currently rated 38% Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, which feels a bit too low for me. If you are in the mood for a campy and fun sharks infested coastal drama, I'd readily suggest you check this out, and draw your own conclusion.

So bad!

Thrash is such a terrible movie across the board. I am a little dumbfounded on why Netflix jumped at the opportunity to distribute this. The film has very cliche setup and premise. A small town gets flooded and there are many sharks that threaten awaiting in the water. Think of the movie Crawl, which was way much better, but with sharks. The shark kills are laughable and have zero suspense whatsoever. The movie utilizes way too much CGI then it should. All around bad film, featuring a lot of weak acting to top off. Even the movie title is laughable. Thrash gets a very low 2 stars out of 10.
