Classical music is truth assumed, the priority of sincere experience. And yet… the film chose the exact opposite side. It became an impeccably shot docu-drama, with good actors and splendid sets—a classy production—but without taking us into Celibidache’s magic. It talks about him, without allowing us to live him. A film about such an artist carries a responsibility greater than simply telling his life story. It should dare to elevate the world, to bring us into a realm where questions matter more than certainties. A film about Celibidache cannot be only an illustrated biography—by its very subject, it is an invitation to thought, to the philosophical experience. Such a film must have the courage to discuss philosophy with anyone who walks in the theater, and to believe that the audience can withstand an encounter with meaning. Because Celibidache was not only a great conductor—he was an inner experience. A film about him should be an excursion into another plane of consciousness.
