I’m so tired of documentaries that are fear

I’m so tired of documentaries that are fear mongering…The Plastic Detox didn’t lean into that doom-and-gloom narrative—it was educational, uplifting, and made me feel hopeful. The film talks about how the intervention wasn’t an official "study" but how its findings could help fund a more comprehensive study with control groups. It was fascinating to see the levels of chemicals decline in their urine samples after they made changes in their lives. That information right there tells me all I need to know. Surrounding myself with toxic chemicals and plastics is not the way to go! (Not to mention its toll on the environment) Incredible film, through and through!

Great info if you wanna have a kid

Great info if you wanna have a kid. This wasn't my journey. I didn't see this advertised for expectant parents only...however-amazing intel. Just-still sensitive, and sad-THIS wasn't me. Kind of makes me feel worse-I wasn't able to do it- but those were the cards I was dealt. Many documentaries forget US-the lost few in geriatric child bearing years that CANNOT bear children. We are ignored, but still understand the future and want to create a better world for our children even if they are not 'ours/mine'-can you include OTHERS who were never able to have kids learn lessons to reduce plastics in our lives? I stopped several times in the doc to think how I could resolve plastics in my life. It always turned to-I'm having a baby. I'm a teacher so I soak it all in. I was really lost in how I could use this educational piece for the advantage of anyone other than expectant parents. So, I'll google it now because I'll never see a documentary on my demographic trying to make a difference.

Having read Dr. Shanna Swan's alarming book "Countdown

Having read Dr. Shanna Swan's alarming book "Countdown" a few years ago, I was well primed for this Netflix documentary, and it didn’t disappoint. The knowledge of just how thoroughly plastic has contaminated every corner of modern life is startling and deeply troubling. This doc follows six couples struggling with unexplained infertility through a 90-day plastic detox guided by Swan, with half succeeding in conceiving. She's upfront that it's not a controlled scientific study, but the mere fact that reducing plastic exposure measurably improves health markers is itself encouraging. I already do what I can with metal water bottles, reusable bamboo straws, and removing takeaway food from plastic containers and onto proper plates and servingware, but this doc is a bracing reminder of how many uphill battles remain. Everything in the modern world is trying to kill us, sometimes including your own government. Documentaries like this are useful dispatches from the front lines.
