Shades of The Island of Dr. Moreau, Videodrome & Wild at heart

The right story for apparently the right director (haven't seen one of his films before) and the right fully committed cast of characters.

Brilliant cinematography, loved the way it moved from the morose black and white taint of the doctor's home into the burst of colors and images of the outside wolrd as the adventure unfolds. Costume designs were outrageously fantastic.

The players let it all hang loose in their performaces. You could could tell they truly loved the freedom of expression that they were able to bring to what these characters called for.

Completely over the top, mind boggling romp through the imagination of the main character on a journey of self-discovery and a relentless degree of self-indulgence.

I don't know if Willem Dafoe finds these roles or if these roles find Willem Defoe, but am I glad that I live in a time that allows me to see him perform.

Why Poor things is controversial

"Poor things" isn't for everybody. And when I say that I don t mean that if you don t like it, it went over your head and you should go back to watching Transfomers. No. It's a very very very specific type of weird, that won't be for everyone. Like Twin Peaks, or Everything everywhere all at once ( which I hated). It's like a fever dream on the strangest coqtail of psychedelics. If it happes to be your kind of weird, you will love it.

It worked for me and I liked it a lot. I plan to watch it again, so I can digest the dialogue and simbolism. On the first watch, it was a little overwhealming to adapt to the weirdness of it all. I liked Bella and her transition from selfish child to complex adult, the learning process of someone with no preconceived ideas or limitations.

It was dreamlike, extremely beautifully shot, thought provoking, and weirdly endearing.

Bella Baxter is an icon

What an adventure this film has been! I was intrigued from the moment I saw the trailer, and even without knowing Yorgos Lanthimos' work, I was already charmed.

I absolutely loved this film. The story, the cinematography, the acting, the soundtrack, everything.

I was charmed by Emma Stone's performance. The fact that she is mentally a child learning rapidly in all spheres of her life was beautifully portrayed.

Victoria is no more. Bella is born!

And a special mention to the goat Alfie. I legit screamed with joy when I saw it bleating. Heheheh.

And to the people who complain about the number of sex scenes, you might want to remember the time when you started discovering your body. I'm just saying, though.
