Plot summary

Shiva, a tribal vagabond lives with his mother in hamlet, stays away from the traditional Daivaradhane and Bhoota Kola legacy due to an unforgettable childhood incident. He is happy loafing around with his friends and doing petty jobs for his landlord. When Forest officer Murali enters the scene, it gives a fresh dimension to the man-vs-nature fight. Can Shiva save the forest from Murali? Or is Murali just a dummy bait cast by bigger fish?

Kantara is one of the most unique and captivating films I have watched in recent years. The movie beautifully blends folklore, culture, mystery, and action into a story that feels both powerful and authentic. The cinematography is stunning, the background score adds incredible intensity, and the performances are outstanding. What impressed me most was how deeply rooted the film is in local traditions while still telling a universally engaging story. The climax is absolutely unforgettable and leaves a lasting impact. A masterpiece that deserves all the praise it has received.

A very good watch. People who get it

A very good watch. People who get it get it, people who don't should not mess with this genre. Shetty did an excellent job overall, the micro important scenes, the easter egg scenes are just beautiful to notice. Why netflix chose to withhold the Kannada audio is beyond me, Hindi dub does take away from the movie. Shetty is in the know and he did it well. This is one of those movie that would make a viewer binge watch all movies by the creator. SPOILER: The one thing that made the nose scrunch was the "scream". It was a scream sure, powerful and must've been great in the theater. But it didn't come from any specific place. The scene. The build up, The God! DEMANDED a blood curdling, hair raising, cold sweat breaking scream from the depth of the soul! A God of that Power would have had a History of not just Authority, but Pain, Torment and Horror more intense than any other God. Good watch tho.

Could not understand the hype around it, yes rishab shetty has good acting skills but could not connect to either the film or the story much , just mid for me, 4.5/10
