It offers no real substance, but he packaging is pretty, and the character engaging, just in the most annoying way possible. This was like the most infuriatingly shallow version of The Craft crossed with the most unfunny version of Legally Blonde I could imagine. I cannot fault how it looks, or how it is played, directed, or shot. Only how it is written.

Forbidden Fruits is a solid entry in the comedy-horror genre that explores toxic feminism from a female perspective, packed with references to Mean Girls, Jawbreaker, The Craft, The Shining, Psycho, and even a gory and humorous nod to Final Destination. Alloway and Houghton's sharp and biting dialogue satirizes millennial and Gen Z culture, as well as the oppressive capitalist system that keeps us in a perpetual state of disillusionment, while the hyper-stylized mall setting serves as the perfect playground for these characters to unleash chaos. A pleasant surprise that, despite its ups and downs, turns out to be a film worth giving a chance and keeping a close eye on its director in the future.
