Plot summary

Enzo, 16, defies his bourgeois family’s expectations by starting a masonry apprenticeship, a path far removed from the prestigious life they had envisioned for him. In their chic villa in the sun-drenched South of France, tensions simmer as relentless questions and pressures weigh on Enzo’s future and dreams. On the construction sites, however, Vlad, a charismatic Ukrainian colleague, shakes up Enzo’s world and opens the door to unexpected possibilities.

I looked at Enzo’s face again/ a question

I looked at Enzo’s face again/ a question mark suspended in the air / not yet eighteen, it seems / nowhere he's been/ yet he carries everywhere. You'd meet his reflection like a new map, his paper-smooth features/ revealing no fissures/ no gaps / no laughter scored, no rivers of grief, just a flat horizon, taut and without relief. You'd wait for a grin to break, a sob to show proof / but his features stay steady, an unruffled roof. His eyes are like unlit lanterns, pupils that do not shine / silence by design. Once he was rare, now he is a rule / we preached independence and handed out rules, then clipped off wings and said, "Be free." Rules press at his ribs like a belt gone tight/ could that be right? What does Enzo want? A hollow of wanting, not drama for gain / attention that’s absent, care given in vain. Enzo’s last step is quiet, a leaf from a tree / a private plea. Who answers the echoes when no one holds hands? We are left with Enzo, with Enzos/ passive rebels without a cause.

It's sad and cute, nothing new to the lgbtq cinema but it's well acted, it's a hopeful story.
