Dasara is a visually gripping rural action drama

Dasara is a visually gripping rural action drama powered by strong performances from Nani and Keerthy Suresh. The film starts off with an interesting setup involving village politics, caste discrimination, and the fight over control of a local wine shop. The first half feels immersive and atmospheric. However, the story gradually shifts into a full revenge arc, which creates a bit of confusion in tone. What begins as a political drama suddenly becomes a personal vendetta story. Even with this inconsistency, the emotional beats especially the friendship angle still work well. Nani delivers an intense and convincing performance, and the production design beautifully captures the rawness of the village setting. The music and action sequences add to the overall impact. Overall Dasara may not be perfect, but it’s engaging, emotional, and visually rich. A solid one-time watch.

After waiting for nearly two years I finally

After waiting for nearly two years I finally watched Dasara. I watched Dasara in a single screen theatre amongst the die hard fans, if you know me that's how I like to watch mass commercial cinema. The experience of watching this film was pretty amazing something that I will remember forever. This film in my opinion balances both art and fan service, art as in the subtext as well as the commercial aspect of this film which I really enjoyed. This was a pretty unusual commercial film from TFI in my opinion because it was raw as hell and not one character looked clean which directors think is the only way a film can work, then the director took a great decision of showcasing Dharani's vulnerable side to us which helped form a sense of relatability with his character. Something that I really didn't expect was a good love story from this film which was so pure sweet and emotional and I really liked it. Coming to the performances all the three leads did a great job although it was Nani and Keerthy Suresh who stood out for me especially in the second half of the film. But unfortunately the rest of the supporting characters fail to provide a similar impact and the film could've been really really better if it had better supporting characters. The music by Santosh Narayanan was so good and the OST was just god level in my opinion especially the rap during the beginning of the film. The cinematography helped capture the dusty area in the most beautiful way possible, the staging and framing of few scenes were actually good and the director utilized close up shots to convey the emotions in a better way. Along with that the theme of love vs lust was handled really beautifully and there is a scene in the second half of the film where it was presented quite literally. The bar in the village was a great example of it and Silk Smitha had an unexpected presence in the film which I cannot explain how. Silk Smitha I think helped personify lust throughout the film. There was a lot of foreshadowing in the film and great usage of Chekhov's gun technique. Finally all I can say is that Dasara is a really well made commercial film which deserves to be seen in the theatres amongst a packed audience.
