Plot summary

Abbie Bladecut is a teenager torn between the macabre traditions of her family’s bloody trade and the tender stirrings of her first crush. In the small town of Clover Falls, Abbie’s father Roger has built an infamous legacy by capturing real-life killings on tape and selling them to eager customers, but as Abbie delves deeper into the grisly family business, she begins to wonder if it’s time to take the family tradition in a new direction.

Bloody Axe Wound is a movie that completely loses itself in its own confusion. I wasn’t just mildly disoriented—I was genuinely lost. The film never makes it clear whether the father is actually killing people or staging murders for movies, which immediately raises logic-breaking questions the screenplay never answers. The story can’t decide what it wants to be. Is the daughter trying to become a real-life killer or just emulate her father’s films? Is the father human, an actor, or something else entirely? None of it is defined well enough to follow, let alone care about. The narrative has no momentum, no build, and no emotional development. Characters feel flat and aimless because the script itself doesn’t know where it’s going. The writing is the biggest failure. There’s no structure, no escalation, and no payoff. Even major moments—like the father returning after a heart attack—feel random rather than shocking. Instead of tension, the film creates frustration.

What a great time. This silly take on the Slasher genre was brilliant. The characters were great and the kills done very well. Tim Treakle

I’m still trying to figure out what the hell it was they said was going on here. Without that being more clear, the rest is just kinda dumb. I finished watching only because I didn’t think there was any way it could be this bad and their had to be some sort of big finale... there wasn’t.
