What starts off grounded slowly turns into every fight movie cliché shoved into one MMA blender. Instead of building real emotional friction, it just stacks louder and louder "movie moments" on top of each other. Brain injuries. Underground rich-guy fight clubs. Rescue missions. Dead brother flashbacks. Even the characters feel borrowed. The exhausted wife from Warrior. The grizzled old coach barking wisdom. The reckless younger brother who only exists to self-destruct. The sleazy manager circling fighters like a vulture. Even the antagonist feels ripped straight out of Southpaw. And the younger brother is the movie’s biggest problem. The screenplay keeps insisting he matters without ever giving us enough humanity to actually care about him. By the end, I was honestly glad when they finally killed him off so the movie could move on to its predictable ending. That’s not tragedy. That’s audience fatigue. Somewhere in there was probably a better movie. Maybe.
